Sometimes words fail when an experience exceeds expectations, so we decided to let these guys’ expressions do the talking about how we felt last night at our first AU of 2016…
What a night it was!! This is Armour Up’s 6th year in existence, and this was hands down the best FIRST night we’ve ever had. The kids were enthusiastic, the energy was high, the volunteers were effective, the video production was stellar, and the message was totally on fleek (to borrow from the kids’ vernacular). There are SO many people to thank, but these two deserve it the most.
Will Washington & Nathan Harvey (aka ‘Harv’) have been hard at work for months, and tonight it totally paid off. Witnessing their unique gifts in concert is like watching an olympic gymnast stick her landing.
An outstanding performance but without the patriotic unitard.
Seriously, Will’s gift of teaching combined with Nathan’s gift of creativity is POWERFUL. And when those gifts are used for the Lord’s glory, it is even more impressive than Mary Lou Retton.
Our AU crew & high school volunteers are also owed a huge thank for keeping everything on track.
This was the first time our incoming 9th graders were officially ‘working’, and we think unleashing them into this sea of gold was a brilliant way to start.
Welcome to the big league, boys.
Our AMAZING AU Committee also came out in full force and kept everything running smoothly despite the large crowds. THANK YOU TEAM.
And lastly, YOU, the parents. We want to thank YOU for participating in this ministry and for encouraging your children to attend. But mostly we want to thank you for not getting scared when you drop your child off and it looks like this.
What you DON’T get to see is that it eventually looks like this…
I think parents across the greater North Dallas area would love to know Will’s secret weapon, cause I know mine don’t sit like that for me unless I’m holding a cupcake in my hand.
At Armour Up, we aim to have a LOT of fun…
(Is it obvious the older boys in white will no longer pose for me?)
But when it comes down to it, we are solely focused on one goal…
So thank you for understanding our mission and for championing us on in this community.
For those of you who were unable to attend last night, click AU Newsletter 6.1.16 for a copy of the newsletter to stay in the loop. A big thank you to Mark Clifton homes for sponsoring our weekly newsletters throughout the summer.
Lastly, please click here to find out next week’s memory verse and theme! Here’s a HINT:
REMEMBER with our themes, it’s important to still wear your AU UNDEFEATED t-shirts. So please accessorize with hats, socks, body art, wrist bands, eye black, etc. THANK YOU for making our job easier by following these suggestions.
Please continue to bring school supplies for ARISE AFRICA throughout the month of June.
Thanks again for an INCREDIBLE night one! Will Washington promised he’d do this if everyone returned next week…
See you then!!
The AU TEAM
