Next week will be our LAST week of AU!

End of Summer Bash

How did that happen?!  Thanks to each of you for your commitment to this ministry and for bringing your kids throughout the summer.  We feel so encouraged by you and your positive feedback, and we pray that your kids have been blessed by our program.

When we see smiles like these, we feel like we are on to something…

If I haven’t bragged on Will & Nathan enough this summer, let me take this opportunity to do so AGAIN.   I feel very strongly Jimmy Fallon would hire them as writers in a heartbeat if he witnessed their announcement bit last night.  They literally played ‘does this website get more hits than armourupdallas.com?’  Some of the websites we beat out?  www.greeneggsandgoats.com, www.farmerdavespetsupply.com, www.badchristmasmusic.com & www.catsandrabbitsandmore.com.  Feeling proud (everyone please go visit www.armourupdallas.com at least twice a day until school starts so we can boost our internet reputation STAT.)

On a more serious note, Will discussed the importance of loving others by serving them.  He even mentioned that serving others can be something as small as being nice to your siblings at home.

Needless to say, we witnessed some serious serving tonight.  Way to go, sibs.

Inside-Out-Emotions-Group

Speaking of families…as we head into a new school year,  each member of our family (including us) will be experiencing many different emotions.  Our relaxed happy summer attitude will most likely be traded in for anxiety within two weeks of the bell ringing.  Stress may rear its ugly head as we navigate new schedules, new friends, and new opportunities.  Our kids will likely lash out as they adjust to waking up early or feel the weight of increased responsibility with their new routine.  To help get the new year off to a great start, I’d love to share an article written by Cristina Sevadjin, who has her Ph.D in counseling and works locally at Sparrow House Counseling with children and families (click here for Cristina’s bio).  Hopefully one of you out there can also benefit from these words of wisdom, and can create an emotionally healthy environment for your family this year.  Click You Need Me to be Happy for Dr. Sevadjin’s simple, yet poignant advice.  (To contact Cristina personally, click here.)

And for some other wonderful advice, click here to listen to Will’s weekly message recap.  (If you are reading this on your iPhone, the following message might read as an error.)

With this kind of material, it’s easy to see why we are beating out www.greeneggsandgoats.com.  Way to go, Will.

Thank you to the following: Will Washington, Nathan Harvey, Camron Price, Brandon Baker, Andrew Norris, Rony Rivas, Sal Rivas, The Silva family for providing food for our staff, HPUMC for the use of their gym, our parent volunteers, the Hillcrest Chick Fil A for sponsoring our AU Newsletter 8.12.15, our AU committee volunteers and our student volunteers (Nathan Holden, Matthew McBrayer, Jackson Hubbard, Will Whitlock, Adam Mitchell & Caroline Lippman).  We could not do this without your support!
