Armour Up is beyond excited to partner with Kershaw’s Challenge one week from today for our 2nd annual Challenge Up event.  Clayton would like to challenge our AU boys to find their God given gift and to use it for God’s glory.  As you will see in this short one minute video, Clayton says “God gave me the gift to throw a baseball…but in the end it’s HIS gift and my only job is to glorify Him through that and to share the gospel.”  And that’s why we love Clayton.  (If you are reading this blog post as an email, the following video will show an error.  Please click on the title of this post in your email to view the video).

Thanks to all who have registered!  Registration is now closed for 2015 as this event is completely sold out.  Our committee has been hard at work finalizing details for this meaningful event and we are grateful to those who have made it possible:  Ellen & Clayton Kershaw, Kershaw’s Challenge, Highland Park High School Baseball Coach Travis Yoder, HPHS Baseball Team Seniors, Dallas Pain Consultants, Frontier Investment Management Company, Interior Resources, The Mike Sweet family & Ben E. Keith Company, Caroline Jackson, and our countless parent volunteers (a special shout out to Kathy Parkhurst and Stephanie Linder who are leading our crew).

Event Details:

Monday, November 16th from 6-8pm @ Scotland Yard

What to bring:  (1) your child’s Challenge Card (that was available upon registration) as their ticket to event & as their entry into the raffle drawing, (2) baseball glove (optional – we will have plenty on hand), (3) cash or credit card if you are interested in purchasing Kershaw’s Challenge or Challenge Up gear that evening.

What to wear: Athletic shorts or baseball pants (either will work just fine!), tennis shoes, and a baseball hat if desired.  Event T-shirts will be given to your boys to wear the night of the event.   If it is cold that night (which it is predicted to be), please have them wear a long sleeved athletic shirt underneath their t-shirt.

What to expect:  A fun, lighthearted game of baseball (6-7 innings max) with each team playing one full inning.  Please remind your kids that they are playing for a GREAT cause (to benefit the kids of Arise Africa and of Mercy Street) and that even if their team loses or they strike out, they have still made a difference in someone else’s life.

We call that a home run.

Clayton will speak to the boys and will have a Q&A if time permits.  Out of respect for the Kershaws, please do not ask for autographs during this event.  Each child will have their picture taken with Clayton (which will later be emailed to you), and each child will leave with a special souvenir.  Dinner is on us this year, so you will each be given a box lunch of Wild About Harry’s Hot Dogs, Chips, water & a JD’s Chippery cookie upon arrival.  Feel free to bring your own sunflower seeds to munch on in between innings 🙂
