How do you get hundreds of boys to sit still and listen to someone preach the gospel?  Hire a 20-something guy with many years of camp experience (& no fear of humiliation) that BRINGS IT every week.  Thank you Will Washington.  Wow!  Last night was just incredible.  So many kids, so much fun (& so much noise).  Thank you for continuing to send your boys to AU each week.  Our prayer is that, at the very least, your children begin to understand how valuable they are simply because God made them.  It’s not too late to invite a friend – registration remains open all summer long.

The boys are quickly getting the idea that if they say their weekly memory verse they are entered into a drawing for an iTunes gift card.   The vast increase in numbers this week tells us we are speaking their language (or that there’s an app for that).  You can find a list of our verses for the summer here:  Summer Bible Verse Calendar 2014

Speaking of contests, let’s talk about these entries from last week’s social media contest (the most creative mention of Armour Up):

The old people are still in awe.

Now if there was only a contest for best hair…

Next week’s challenge is to represent the World Cup theme “All In One Rhythm” through photographs or video.  Please send your child’s submissions to info@armourupdallas.com or post on instagram, twitter or Facebook using #armourupdallas.  Hopefully this will help you out the next time your kid says ‘I’m bored.’ (Not that mine ever do).

For other recent news, please download our newsletter.   This is a great thing to send your kids who are at camp to keep them in the loop.  It’s two pages long, so throw in a bag of oreos and you’ve got a ‘care package’.

Reminder – please have your child leave their cell phones at HOME unless they absolutely need them to communicate with you.  Especially with the younger kids, it’s too much of a distraction.  We will have cell phone parking in the weeks to come, but would much rather follow the advice of our good friend, E.T. “PHONE HOME”.

By far, the most touching time of the night was watching all of our boys show sympathy to Nate & Zach Lovasz by writing notes to them in these journals.  A truly beautiful sight to behold.  Thank you for raising such kind and compassionate boys.  Our prayers will continue to be with the Lovasz family as they face the difficult days ahead.
